The high-profile case of a police officer hitting and killing a student was heard again at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court today. The Deputy Public Prosecutor applied to the court to transfer the case to the Ipoh High Court for trial, and the Magistrate’s Court agreed.

In this case, Deputy Prosecutor Azhan Nijan invoked Article 177(A)(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code to make the above application to Judge Punita of the Magistrate’s Court. The defendant’s lawyer Huang Xinting did not raise any objection.
