Terengganu MB rejects using public funds for polls in Kemaman.

20/11/2023

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has declared that he will run for office in the Kemaman parliamentary by-election using both PAS and his own funds, vehicles, and materials. The candidate for Perikatan Nasional refuted claims made by Barisan Nasional that he would utilise the resources of the state government to further his political career. “I’m running this campaign in my own vehicle, not the MB’s. I’ll try to be as realistic as I can. The state would not own the strategies I employ to reach voters; instead, PAS and I would,” the vice president of PAS stated to The Star. “I’ve received offers to use boats owned by other PAS and Perikatan leaders because Kemaman is prone to flooding. Samsuri said of the party central committee member, “Tan Sri Annuar Musa has actually offered his boat for campaigning purposes.”
According to Ahmad Samsuri, the Madani government is represented by his opponent Jen (R) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed, so in reality, it is he who is up against the might of the federal government. In the meantime, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man stated that if the government finished a number of mitigation projects he had previously suggested, floods wouldn’t be a major issue during the election season. The former minister of the environment and water claimed that Keman has always been vulnerable to significant floods during the east coast monsoon season. “Putrajaya ought to move more quickly on the projects I suggested. Every study has been finished, and the procedures needed to complete the projects are set up. “We will run a slightly different campaign during floods because people’s safety and life preservation continue to be our top priorities. He stated, “PAS has the entire party machinery for flood campaigning. The Terengganu Election Court’s decision on September 26 to void Perikatan’s GE15 victory prompted the call for the Kemaman by-election.
