As of 12:00 noon on February 6, we have 10,089 new confirmed cases and we now have a cumulative total of 2,914,220 confirmed cases. Of the 10,089 new confirmed cases, 0.76% belong to the third to fifth stages, that is, cases with infected lungs.
Health Minister noted that the country has officially moved into the wave of Omicron variant viruses. If we use the 1.2 basic transmission index as a benchmark, our country will have more than 10,000 new cases per day in early February, will exceed 15,000 in early March, and will exceed 20,000 by the end of March.
But thankfully Omicron variant is far less severe than the Delta variant, but people still need to remain vigilant and accelerate their immunization with a booster vaccine to get immune protection.
Public is urged not to visit crowded areas, wash their hands frequently, and wear masks in enclosed areas.
