Grab may launch a new fare-bidding feature where both passengers and drivers can bid against each other!

Grab may be launching a new fare bidding feature that will allow passengers to charge drivers and drivers to charge each other.

According to online sources, Grab has already started training on Fare Bidding through Grab Academy. The feature is similar to InDrive, which allows passengers and drivers to bid on each other’s fares, and if both are satisfied, the trip is set up.

Once Grab officially launches Fare Bidding, passengers will be able to bid on Grab drivers, and drivers will be able to bid on passengers. The driver will have about 15 seconds to make a bid and if both parties agree, the ride will begin.

Grab is understood to be testing the service in a few cities and it is not clear if it will be rolled out to all cities.

Currently, Grab uses a fixed-price model, where the system sets the fare for a trip on its own, and neither the driver nor the passenger can decide on the fare. Many drivers have complained that the fares are not reasonable, and many have even asked passengers to cancel their orders after receiving them.
