Our country will officially shut down the 3G network at the end of December 2021! Maxis posted via Facebook on October 6 that it would be shutting down Maxis 3G network in phases between October 6 and December 15.
Maxis posted on Facebook on October 6 announcing the schedule for the shutdown of the 3G network but later deleted the post. It is unclear why Maxis deleted the post.
The post by Maxis showed that the 3G network in Terengganu was shut down on October 6, Kelantan on October 13, Pahang on October 21 and Negeri Sembilan and Melaka on October 27.
Perak’s 3G network will be shut down on November 2, while Kedah and Perlis will be shut down on November 10. Sabah and Sarawak will shut down their 3G networks on 17 and 24 November, respectively. Penang and Klang Valley 3 will shut down their 3G networks on December 1, Johor and Klang Valley 2 on December 8 and Klang Valley 1 on December 15.
After the shutdown of the 3G network, the telecom company will upgrade the frequency band used by the 3G network to the existing 4G network, which will help enhance the 4G network experience.
