The third dose or booster is not mandatory!

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said at a press conference on the evening of 7 October that the government does not make it mandatory for people to receive a third dose or booster, so people who do not receive a third dose or booster will not be affected by their vaccination status.

The government started the third dose of the vaccine in October for people of high risk and has not ruled out gradually extending it to other age groups. Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin pointed out that the third dose or booster is not mandatory. The Ministry of Health encourages people to come for a third dose or booster six months after the second dose of the vaccine to improve their immune response.

This follows news that the government is exploring a mixed dose model for the third dose of vaccine.

As vaccination centres around the country are closing, the Ministry of Health has not ruled out adding a new feature to MySejahtera to allow those who have not yet been vaccinated and who wish to be vaccinated to book a date.

The Ministry of Health is urging people returning home or travelling across the state to regularly self-test, and the government will soon reduce the rapid antigen test kits in price.
