29/05/2022

Recently, a 40-year-old Malaysian man was taken to court by the Kuala Lumpur City Council and was sentenced to a fine of RM150 or 3 days in jail instead. The Kuala Lumpur City Council posted on Facebook that the 40-year-old man had received 60 tickets from the city council’s enforcement officers since 2008, but he never paid any attention to them and never paid them.

The Guaralang City Council recently took the man to court for this “arbitrary” parking violation. The Magistrate, Khairul Farhi bin Yusob, finally sentenced the man to a fine of RM150 or 3 days in jail in lieu of defaulting on his parking ticket, in violation of Section 8 of the Local Traffic Ordinance 2007 of the Kuala Lumpur City Council.

After hearing the verdict, the man pleaded guilty and paid the fine of RM150 and left.

In addition, Amirul Azizan bin Dato Sri Abd Rahim, the chairman of Guarang City Council, also posted through the Guarang City Council’s Facebook page that since Guarang City will be upgraded to a city for the first year, there is a discount on parking tickets. Amirul Azizan bin Dato Sri Abd Rahim urged those who still have outstanding tickets to take advantage of the opportunity to pay the outstanding fines as soon as possible to avoid being charged to court by the authorities.

The offer is as follows

Parking tickets issued before 2019: RM15

Parking tickets issued from 2020 to 2022: RM10
