When will our country start receiving the fourth dose of vaccination? The Deputy Minister of Health revealed that there is no discussion on the fourth dose of vaccination yet. According to Deputy Minister, the Ministry of Health has not yet discussed giving the nation a fourth dose vaccine. For now, the Ministry of Health will focus on the third dose, as only about half of the country’s population is currently receiving the booster dose. According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), four months after the third dose of the vaccine, protection decreases significantly and a fourth dose may be needed for those at risk. It is known that in the case of an Omicron mutant virus outbreak, the third dose of vaccine remains 91% protective after 2 months, dropping to 78% after 4 months. The effectiveness of the third dose of vaccine against outbreaks dropped to 87% after 2 months, to 66% after the fourth month, and to only 37% after 5 months. Korean government will begin vaccinating 1.3 million people with weakened immunity with a fourth dose of the vaccine.
