There’s no need to keep your phone connected when using WhatsApp web.
WhatsApp has begun to highlight to users that the phone does not need to be connected to the internet while using WhatsApp on other devices.
The most often noted issue with the web version of WhatsApp in the past has been that when the mobile phone network is unreliable, the web version of WhatsApp will also be disconnected, causing many users of the web version of WhatsApp to be frustrated.
WhatsApp is progressively rolling out a new version of WhatsApp Web and Desktop, according to a message from the company. Users will be able to use WhatsApp on four connected devices at the same time after the update, and the phone will not need to be online. Each device will connect to WhatsApp independently, with end-to-end encryption for privacy and security.
Starting from January, the update was gradually handed out to consumers, with all iOS and Android users receiving it in March and April, respectively.
It’s been reported that this upgrade hasn’t been very stable so far, and some users have reported delays when loading messages on WhatsApp browser and desktop. WhatsApp has stated that it is focusing on improving its linked device experience to make it faster and more dependable.
Furthermore, some users reported missing features such as preview links on WhatsApp Web, real-time location viewing on connected devices, better syncing of deleted conversations across devices, broadcast lists, calling, sending and receiving messages, as well as syncing sticker packs from your phone to connected devices.
