When using Apple Pay, a PIN is not required!

The Malaysian payment market now has Apple Pay in it. Currently, Apple Pay is supported by Maybank, Am Bank, and Standard Chartered, three domestic banks. These three banks’ credit cards can be linked in Apple Pay by iPhone users.

However, it should be reminded that normally, you must input the PIN number to authenticate the transaction when paying with a credit card or debit card through PayWave for an amount greater than RM250. There is still no need to enter the PIN number when using Apple Pay for purchases that are greater than RM250; instead, Touch ID or Face ID must be used to confirm the transaction.

When a user can successfully complete the Touch ID or Face ID verification process, it also confirms that the payer is the owner of the iPhone, making Touch ID and Face ID more secure than PIN passwords in Apple’s eyes.

According to information on Maybank’s official website, the RM10,000 daily spending limit for regular Maybank Debit Cards and RM20,000 for Maybank Platinum Debit Cards. The daily swipe limit can also be changed by users on the Maybank website.

Users can log in to Maybank2u and then select Settings to change the Maybank swipe limit. Then click Cards, and in the Manage Debit Cards section, change the swipe limit.

You only need to change the limit to RM0 to disable the contactless payment feature of Maybank Contactless.
