WhatsApp is testing 2 new features!

07/08/2022

WhatsApp is testing two new features, namely “Login Approval” and the ability to hide cell phone numbers in social groups.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature called “Login Approval”. If someone tries to log in to your WhatsApp account from another device, you will get a pop-up notification and you can choose to “allow” or “disallow” it.

Currently, WhatsApp uses a 6-digit verification code to sign in, which means that users will receive a 6-digit verification code after entering their cell phone number, and then they can sign in. However, WhatsApp is now testing a double verification feature to protect users’ accounts, requiring them to complete a “verify login” process when logging into a second device.

WhatsApp introduced the Communities feature many months ago, which allows multiple groups with the same function to be combined into Communities. It is understood that WhatsApp is testing to allow users to hide their mobile numbers in specific groups under Communities.

At present, everyone in the group can see the cell phone number of other members, which also leads to the user’s cell phone number exposed to other users know. In order to protect the privacy of users, WhatsApp is testing the feature of hiding cell phone number. However, this feature is only available for social groups, WhatsApp will preset to hide cell phone number, and users can also change the privacy option manually.
