Water levels in Terengganu rivers are rising.
Residents in several Terengganu areas are being urged to prepare for possible flooding and to follow authorities’ instructions. This is in response to rising river levels in the districts of Besut, Setiu, Kemaman, and Hulu Terengganu.
Sungai Telemong in Kampung Sungai Ping and Sungai Berang in Kampung Menerong in Hulu Terengganu district were among the stations that recorded readings above the danger level at 8 a.m. today, according to the Terengganu Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID).
Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap, Sungai Chalok at Jambatan Chalok, and Sungai Setiu at Jambatan Permaisuri are the rivers in Setiu that exceed the danger level, while Sungai Besut in Kampung Keruak and Sungai Besut in Kampung La are the stations in Besut.
Sungai Tumpat in Kampung Baru, Kemasek in Kemaman, and Sungai Peneh in Felda Mengkawang have warning status, while Sungai Nerus in Kampung Bukit in Setiu has alert status.
