Police have summoned the campsite operator and two workers are assisting in the investigation of the Batang Kali landslide.

Police have summoned the Batang Kali campsite operator.

The operator of the Father’s Organic Farm campsite and two of its employees were summoned by police yesterday to assist them in their investigation of the landslide tragedy that has claimed 24 lives so far.

Supt Suffian Abdullah of the Hulu Selangor district police said the campsite operator, in his 50s, and two male workers, both in their 30s, came to the Hulu Selangor district police station to give their statements.

Previously, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming stated that the campsite was operating without a permit from the Hulu Selangor District Council.

A landslide of nearly 300 metres occurred at about 2.42 a.m. on Friday.

A landslide nearly 300 metres long and 70 metres high hit the campsite on Jalan Genting-Batang Kali here at about 2.42 a.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, the 15 landslide victims’ bodies, which included two adult men, eight adult women, two boys, and three girls, were returned to their families yesterday. 9 more bodies were still being processed at Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortems before being claimed by their next of kin.

A special team had been formed at the hospital in question to assist with the documentation and handing over of the bodies to the families.

The search and rescue operation is in its third day. Nine of the 94 victims are still missing.
