26/07/2022

When it comes to Dato’ Lee Chong Wei, it can be said that no one in Malaysia is unaware of him, as the first brother of Malaysian badminton, although he announced his retirement in 2019, but he did not completely fade out of sight, but in the major social and short video platform is very active. Especially in recent years, the interaction with the former famous singer, now “fish seller” Wang Lei, has attracted the attention of many netizens and lively discussion. Today, Wang Lei made a post on his Facebook page, which once again attracted numerous netizens’ buzz and received more than 500 retweets and 1,000 messages in just one hour.

It is understood that Wang Lei and his anchor team are touring Malaysia during this time, and even arrived in Kuala Lumpur from North Malaysia yesterday (25th). Soon after arriving in Kuala Lumpur, he met with Dato’ Lee Chong Wei, which shows that they have a deep friendship. In the post, Wang Lei said that Dato’ Lee Chong Wei gave him the racket and jersey he used in the 2016 Olympics, and also wrote on the label humorously that “the racket and jersey have his sweat”. The post also drew the attention of numerous netizens and left many interesting comments.

Dato’ Lee Chong Wei also reposted the post on his Facebook page, where he affectionately called “Brother Wang Lei” and said that Wang Lei “can use this racket to challenge Luo Jian You (Singaporean badminton player)”. Interestingly, Dato’ Lee Chong Wei also said that if he received his racket, he would definitely ask him to do a movie, and he specifically asked to play Wang Lei’s “Lao Peh” (father) and then asked Lee Kok Wong to play “Ah Gong” (grandfather).

In fact, this is not the first time Dato’ Lee Chong Wei sent Wang Lei. As early as 2020, when Wang Lei came to Malaysia to do a live tour, he received a warm welcome from Dato’ Lee Chong Wei and presented a racket, and even sewed the word “fish seller” on the racket cover. It is said that the racket was a limited edition of only 60 racket in the world, and the value of the racket at the charity auction was RM240,000, which was highly enviable.
