The first phase of the STR grant will be disbursed in phases from January 17, and unbanked STR recipients can also receive the grant in cash at BSN from January 17 onwards.
Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah or STR is the government’s assistance program that will replace last year’s BKM assistance. The family group will receive RM300 and the single group will receive RM100.
Those who have previously provided a bank account can receive the payment directly through their bank account while those who do not have a bank account can also visit their nearest National Savings Bank (BSN) counter to receive the payment. You are required to bring your Malaysia Card when you visit the BSN counter to receive the assistance.
If the beneficiary is unable to collect the payment in person at BSN, he/she can send a representative to collect the payment. However, the representative must bring along the relevant supporting documents and must be the representative (Wakil) that the beneficiary has indicated in the application for assistance.
The representative (Wakil) must bring four documents with him/her to collect the benefit, namely the beneficiary’s Damascus card (original or copy), the representative’s Damascus card, a document proving the relationship between the representative and the beneficiary, and a document proving that the beneficiary is unable to come to BSN to collect the benefit in person.
In the case of documents proving the relationship between the representative and the beneficiary, the parent can collect the benefit for the child, but must bring the child’s birth certificate with him/her. The spouse can also collect the benefit for the recipient by bringing the marriage certificate or the child’s birth certificate. Children can help their parents receive assistance by bringing their own birth certificate to the BSN.
If a sibling is to help the recipient receive assistance, he or she must bring the recipient’s birth certificate and his or her own birth certificate. For grandchildren, they need to bring their own birth certificate and their parents’ birth certificate to collect the benefit.
Next, the representative needs to bring documents that prove that the beneficiary is unable to come to the BSN to receive the benefit in person or, if the beneficiary works in a foreign country, documents from the employer. If the beneficiary is receiving treatment in a hospital, then a certificate of hospitalization is required. If the beneficiary has mobility problems, he or she will need to present documents that prove that he or she has mobility problems, such as a doctor’s certificate, a certificate of illness, etc.
