Last year, the Touch N Go eWallet worked with Shell to test a new contactless payment system by offering designated users RFID-enabled payments at five locations. Today, this feature is open to all RFID users and is available at the same five designated Shell gas stations!
Unlike Petronas’ Setel, Touch N Go eWallet’s payment method in partnership with Shell does not require the user to select the pump number. Users only need to go to the oil pump that supports RFID, and the RFID detector on the oil pump detects the RFID, and after connecting with Touch N Go, they can directly pick up the oil filling pipe to add oil.
However, before the user goes to the gas station to refuel, the Touch N Go eWallet must enable this payment method on the Touch N Go eWallet, and set how much gas to buy before using RFID at the designated Shell gas station. Add oil. However, users can rest assured that if the user buys RM100 of petrol, but actually only uses RM60, the balance will be returned to the Touch N Go eWallet!
At present, the gas stations that can use RFID to refuel are:
- Shell Bandar Sri Menjalara
- Shell Mint Hotel
- Shell NKVE Damansara
- Shell Taman Connaught
- Shell Taman Tun Dr Ismail
