Things you need to know before using Shopee SPayLater

13/12/2021

Shopee has launched the SPayLater function for some time. Have you started to use the SPayLater function? Shopee is gradually pushing the SPayLater function to more users.

Before using the Shopee SPayLater function, you must pay attention to several things, so that you can better enjoy the benefits of buying first and paying later and avoid falling into a debt trap.

To use SPayLater, you must be a Malaysian citizen who is over 18 years old and hold a valid Malaysian card. When SPayLater has not been activated, the system will show that you can enjoy a spending limit of up to RM6,000.

It is important to note that not all users can enjoy the RM6,000 spending limit. Shopee’s system will determine the user’s available spending limit based on the user’s payment history and consumption behavior.

Before using SPayLater, you must first understand 2 dates, namely the billing date and the due date. The so-called billing date is the date when Shopee issues the bill, and the deadline is that the user must pay the bill before this date, otherwise, an additional fee of 1.5% per month will be levied.

The billing date of the old user is the 1st of each month, while the due date is the 10th of each month. As for the billing date for new users, it will be the 21st of each month, and the due date will be the 1st of each month.

If you often delay payment, your Shopee account may face the following restrictions, that is, restrict the use of Shopee Vouchers and restrict the use of specific Shopee App functions.

If you use SPayLater’s installment payment function, you will be charged a 1.25% handling fee per month. As for users who use a single month to pay after new purchases, there is no need to pay any handling fees.
