There have been 3,471 new infections, with 6 deaths.

In the previous 24 hours, Malaysia has documented 3,471 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,440,383 since the outbreak began.

In a statement issued this morning, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah claimed that 3,461 of the new cases were local transmissions, while 10 were imported cases.

Six Covid-19 deaths were also reported by the Health Ministry, including four brought-in-dead (BID) instances.  This raises the total number of deaths to 35,526.

Selangor had the largest number of deaths (3), followed by Johor (1), Melaka (1), and Penang (1). (1).

In addition, our country saw 6,900 recoveries, which is roughly double the number of new Covid-19 infections.

There are presently 58,436 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, with 56,776, or 97.2 percent, observing home confinement, and 61 persons at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres around the country, according to Dr Noor Hisham.

In the meantime, 161 new hospital admissions related Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday.

There were 87 cases in Categories 1 and 2, and 74 in Categories 3, 4, and 5.

With 36 fresh admissions, Selangor (22) led the way, followed by Perak (20) and Sarawak (15).  The ministry discovered two more clusters yesterday.

According to Dr. Noor Hisham, the Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) is currently at 0.70.
