Sabah youth Riki Sani angered Muslim netizens when he left a message on Facebook saying that he was dissatisfied with the incident involving the word “Allah” on his socks as “garbage thinking.” Although he issued an apology, he was still criticized and threatened by netizens. The downstairs of his home was even harassed by netizens. Confined for nearly 6 hours.
When Li Qi was later summoned to the police station to record his confession, netizens who besieged his home also followed him to the police station. They blocked the door of the police office and demanded an apology from Liqi.
Ricky recently left a message under the post about the KK convenience store socks controversy through the “Ricky Shane Ca” Facebook account, saying that the controversy became a social issue and was “garbage thinking.”
This message angered netizens, including Ismail Saran Andrew, deputy chairman of the Baron District Youth League of Parti Rakyat Sabah (PGRS); his Facebook account “Ismail Sabran Ancok” has about 30,000 followers.
Ismail posted on Facebook at around 1 pm on the 17th that he had arrived in Kota Kinabalu and would go to Li Qi’s home, and disclosed the relevant address in the post.
At 2:33 p.m., he posted again saying that Li Qi was unwilling to come down from his home, but he and his accomplices were unable to go up due to security regulations, so they went to call the police.
“We had to have a police representative with us before we could go up to his house,” he said.
Ismail released a video of the person at the police station shortly before 5 p.m. In the video, Li Qi and his family can be seen in the police station. It is believed that he was summoned by the police to give evidence to assist in the investigation. There is a group of people outside the door who continue to pay attention to Li Qi’s movements.
After Ritchie angered Muslim netizens with his message, he issued a Facebook post to apologize, saying that he converted to Islam two years ago and still had a lot to learn.
Currently, Facebook is no longer able to access Li Qi’s Facebook account.
According to “Majoriti”, Li Qi’s apology post read: “I, Li Qi Shani, apologize to Muslims for the incident posted online.
“I deeply regret my rash actions and I beg all Muslims to forgive my message.
“Actually, it has been two years since I converted to Islam. There is still a lot to learn and respect, especially about Islam.”
Li Qi promised not to make such a big mistake again. However, his apology post did not extinguish the anger of Muslim netizens.
According to reports, netizens stayed at downstairs of Li Qi’s home for nearly six hours until Li Qi was taken to the police station.
In addition, Kota Kinabalu Police District Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi confirmed that Li Qi was summoned to assist in the investigation.
