Total active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continues to decline.
In Malaysia, the number of new Covid-19 cases has continued to decline, with 1,404 infections reported in the last 24 hours, down from 1,697 the day before.
Following the lifting of restrictions and the Hari Raya celebrations, the number of cases spiked to a two-week high of 3,410 on May 12.
Total active cases have decreased by 370 to 30,509, according to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website.
The number of people admitted to hospitals has also decreased marginally, from 459 to 450.
The number of cases in intensive care units (ICU) has fallen from 40 to 36, with the number of ventilated patients down from 22 to 17.
Deaths have also decreased, from five the day before to three the day before.
Malaysia now has 49 active clusters, with the education sector accounting for 37 of them.
The highest number of cases were reported in Selangor (615), Kuala Lumpur (219), Penang (123), and Negri Sembilan (112), followed by Perak (95), Johor (63), and Kedah (59).
Melaka, Putrajaya, Sarawak, Sabah, and Pahang, respectively, recorded 34, 32, 29, 25, and 22 cases.
Kelantan (14) and Terengganu (13) were next (13).
The only states with single-digit cases were Perlis (five) and Labuan (six).
In the previous week, more than a quarter of all instances (25.9%) occurred in the 18-29 age group, followed by 23.8 percent in the 30-39 age group.
The largest increase in the seven-day average is 45 percent in Kuala Lumpur, and the lowest is -29 percent in Negri Sembilan.
Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 35,623 people in Malaysia since the outbreak began.
