Sarawak will start vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 years old from February!
A total of 272,500 children in Sarawak aged 5 to 11 years old will be vaccinated with the new crown vaccine in February, according to a message from Sarawak Deputy Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
The Malaysian Drug Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has approved a vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years, the Pfizer/COMIRNATY vaccine, at a dose of 10mcg, which is one-third the volume of the adult vaccine and has a lower drug profile (Kekuatan).
Neighboring Singapore began vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 years with Pfizer last December 27, while Indonesia has been vaccinating children aged 6 to 11 years with Kekuatan since December 14, and China has been vaccinating children aged 3 years and older with Coronavirus.
As of January 13, 78.6% of the country’s population had completed two doses of the vaccine, 79.7% had received at least one dose, and 26.1% had received a booster dose.
