North-South toll is testing the use of Debit Cards and Credit Cards to pay tolls, according to news reports!

According to local technology media, North-South Boulevard (PLUS) is testing the use of Debit Cards or Credit Cards to pay tolls, which will eliminate the need to recharge the Touch ‘n Go eWallet and make it faster and easier.

North and South Avenue toll booths will support RFID toll payment from January 15, and each toll booth will have at least one lane to support RFID toll payment. The system will automatically recognize the car’s information and deduct the toll each time the car passes the toll booth.

North South Boulevard hopes to introduce a second platform to replace the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, which would allow RFID tags to be tied directly to a Debit Card or Credit Card, eliminating the need to recharge an eWallet. North South Avenue has not yet announced at which toll booths to test the Debit Card or Credit Card payment of tolls.

North South Boulevard is known to have tested the Debit Card or Credit Card as an alternative to the Touch ‘n Go eWallet in 2018, but this was opposed by CIMB.
