The Ministry of Education assures that the opening day of the new school year will be rescheduled to January!

According to a message from Education Minister Farina Sidi, the Ministry of Education has assured that the new school year will soon start in January, in line with the expectations of parents and teachers.

Farina Sidi pointed out that parents need not worry because the Ministry of Education is working in this direction. Farina Sidi said that the matter cannot be implemented in 2023 because the Ministry of Education also needs to take into account the 1996 Education Act, which states that the number of school days cannot be less than 190 days.

Because of the epidemic, the Ministry of Education has changed the start of the school year from January to March from 2021, which means that primary and secondary schools will start the new school year in March. However, this change has caused many parents and staff to be unhappy, some of them want the Ministry of Education to change the opening day of the school year back to the original January, they are still accustomed to start the new school year in January.

According to the information released by the Ministry of Education in early December, the new school year 2023 will still start in March, that is, the primary and secondary schools in Group A (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) will start the new school year from March 19, 2023, while the primary and secondary schools in Group B (other states) will start the new school year from March 20, 2023.
