The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Level Persistent Very Heavy Rainstorm Warning for Johor and Pahang! The public is urged to be vigilant.
According to the weather warning issued by the Meteorological Department of Malaysia at 6:20pm on January 2, a red-level persistent very heavy rainstorm warning will be issued for four areas in Pahang and the whole of Johor, and is expected to last until January 3. The weather bureau will issue a red level warning for an area when the rainfall exceeds 150mm in 24 hours.
The Meteorological Department has also issued an Orange Level Persistent Rainstorm Warning for parts of Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Sabah, which will continue to rain until January 3. The Meteorological Department will issue an orange level alert when an area receives more than 60mm of rainfall in 6 hours.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow level rainfall warning for Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and parts of Sabah, where rainfall will continue until January 4.
In addition, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are also expected to experience persistent rainfall until January 3. The Meteorological Department will issue a yellow level warning when rain is expected to fall in an area for more than 6 hours.
People should keep an eye on the weather and try to avoid roads where lightning and flooding often occur.
