The meanings of various road signs, each color of the road sign represents a different meaning

Dear drivers, how much do you know about Malaysian road signs? Road signs in Malaysia have various colours. Do you know what these colours mean?

Here are 5 things you should know about the Road sign so you can reduce your reliance on navigation when driving.

1. Different colours of road signs represent different kinds of roads

Blue signs: represent federal, interstate or municipal roads without toll booths.

Green signs: represent highways with toll booths.

2. Use different letters and numbers for different types of roads

Expressways use the E letter, such as E2. It’s just a federal highway use number.

3. Letters in different colours represent road names or region names

Yellow letters represent road names, for example, Jalan Tun Razak is yellow. White letters represent district names, for example, Ipoh and Bentong are districts.

4. The names of road signs are sorted by distance

The district at the top represents the nearest, and the district at the bottom represents the farthest.

Green letter with white background = tourist attraction

White letters with vermilion background = tourist attraction

Orange letters with green background = government buildings

Red letter with white background = city or something
