The greatest change in the service price index was seen in the second quarter when dining out and travel costs increased.

The greatest change in the service price index was seen according to DOSM.

According to information from the Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) this afternoon, Malaysians are paying more to eat out and travel from April to June as the Index for Accommodation and Food & Beverage Service Activities increased sharply to 2.7% from the previous quarter.

The index tracks changes in the cost of food and drink supplied in restaurants and by mobile food vendors, as well as the cost of short-term housing, special events, and catering.

In its quarterly report, DOSM stated that the prices for these services have increased by a startling 4.7% year over year.

In the second quarter, the SPPI increased by 1.5% to 111.9 in comparison to the same period last year and by 0.9% from the prior quarter.
