Here is the details of the minimum wage scheme.

The government has introduced the details of the minimum wage scheme.

According to the government, companies with more than 5 employees will be required to raise the minimum pay to RM1,500 beginning May 1, 2022, while employers with fewer than 5 employees will be granted an 8-month grace period, with the RM1500 minimum wage taking effect on January 1, 2023.

The minimal hourly wage is RM7.21 per hour if the employee’s salary is calculated hourly. If an employee is paid on a daily basis, the daily rate for a 6-day week is RM57.69, RM69.23 for a 5-day week, and RM86.54 for a 4-day week.

Companies that come under the Malaysian Occupational Classification Standard (MASCO) as a professional field will have to adopt the RM1,500 minimum wage measure on May 1 regardless of how many employees they hire.

Minimum wage details

Monthly Salary: RM1,500

Hourly wage: RM7.21 per hour

Daily salary: RM57.69 (6 days a week)

Daily salary: RM69.23 (5 days a week)

Daily salary: RM86.54 (4 days a week)
