In the most recent week, the nation saw a 31 % spike in new cases, while hospital admissions rose by 13.7% from the previous week.
According to the clinical microbiology consultant at the University of Putra Malaysia, the BA.5 strain can evade the antibodies that are created by the current vaccines, making them less effective against the BA.5 strain.
Omicron and the BA.5 strain both exhibit similar symptoms, however the BA.5 strain is more contagious. The number of high-risk groups admitted to hospitals for treatment will rise if people do not enhance their vigilance and take precautionary measures.
