Muhammad Fitri, a 24-year-old civil servant, was riding his motorcycle home at 8 pm on Saturday (25th) and was in a car accident at the T-junction of Ang Mo Kio 6 Road and Ang Mo Kio 31 Street.
Fitri’s sister, Nur Fatyna (23 years old), said that her brother told her family about the incident, she said that when the incident happened, he was riding a motorcycle and a grey truck suddenly came from his left, and the two cars collided with each other in the yellow grid, causing him to fall to the ground again.
“When my brother was lying on the ground, he also saw the truck driver drive away from the scene, and then he fell into a coma.”
At the time of the incident, there were few cars and pedestrians, and the golden moment of rescue was about to be missed. However, the Apple smartwatch worn by Fitri played a role at the critical moment.
Immediately after detecting the unusual violent vibration, his smartphone started the rescue function, and the mobile phone linked to the watch also automatically called an ambulance to the scene, and at the same time sent a short message and called to inform the emergency contact, who is Fitri’s girlfriend.
When the medical staff arrived, he gradually regained consciousness. At this time, a pedestrian passing by picked up Fetri’s phone, and chatted with his girlfriend to explain the scene.
Afterwards, his girlfriend also informed Fitri’s family, and everyone was very glad when they learned that the watch played a role in an emergency and saved Fitri’s life.
“At first, we thought it was a pedestrian who called the ambulance. After a few conversations, we realized that the watch played a key role.”
Upon inquiry, the police confirmed that the truck fled after the collision and said that the accident involved a motorcycle and unknown vehicles. The 24-year-old male motorcyclist was hospitalized in a conscious state. Currently, the police are investigating.
