North South Boulevard Kedah officially launched RFID toll booths with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system on October 31!
The North-South Highway (PLUS) has been conducting a public pilot program on RFID since last July, and this year, the first RFID toll booth with ANPR was launched on October 31 at the Hutan Kampung-Sungai Dua section, which means the pilot program has been completed.
Among the benefits of RFID toll booths with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is that road users can enjoy a seamless, contactless and cashless journey.
Drivers will be able to pass through RFID toll booths with ANPR at speeds of up to 30 km/h, which is smarter than SmartTag’s 20 km/h. The system will automatically detect the license plate number through RFID technology and high-definition cameras, and deduct the toll from the user’s account.
RFID toll booths with automatic license plate recognition system will be extended to other areas in 2022, that is, the North-South Road section from Penang to Johor.
