31/10/2021

Attention! Do not let your children dabble in water at the beach!

According to the information issued by the Malaysian Water and Irrigation Department, the coastal areas along the west coast of the peninsula will experience a high tide from November 4 to 7, 2021. The affected areas include Kuala Muda, Perak, Selangor (Klang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Pontian).

When the high tide hits, it will be accompanied by strong winds, big waves and heavy rains, which may cause flash floods, sea water flooding and possible flooding in coastal areas. People are urged to be vigilant and not to go to the beach for picnics or to play in the water. Parents are also urged to keep a close eye on their children and not to allow them to play in the water during high tides.

If you live along the coast, you should also be prepared by storing important documents in high places. Try to park your vehicle in a high place.

People are urged to keep an eye on climate change and to comply with evacuation notices from the authorities if they are received. The authorities will also set up a cordon in the affected areas to alert the public.
