After spending the 3-day Christmas long weekend, let’s take a look at what public holidays there are in January.

There will be 3 public holidays in January 2024. These 3 public holidays are only holidays in designated states. January 1 is New Year’s Day, but there are five states in the country that cannot enjoy the holiday on New Year’s Day. These five states are Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu.

January 14th is the birthday of the ruler of Negeri Sembilan. Since this day falls on a Sunday, you will be entitled to a compensatory day off on January 15th (Monday).

January 25 is Thaipusam, and seven states and territories in the country will enjoy the holiday. These seven states and territories are Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Penang and Selangor.
