28/12/2023

Cases of fraud in safety tests by Japan’s Daihatsu continue to escalate. It is understood that all Daihatsu factories in Japan have been suspended, and partners in other countries are gradually resuming production.

Currently, Daihatsu partners in Taiwan and Indonesia have resumed sales, and Indonesian regulators have also given permission for affected models to continue production and delivery. Thailand has resumed production of related parts.

As for Perodua and UMW Toyota, which were affected by the Daihatsu fraud case in my country, they are said to have resumed production one after another after suspending production.

Daihatsu was exposed earlier for falsifying crash tests. Now, after investigation by a third-party review agency, it was found that a total of 64 car models were involved, including Toyota and Perodua models.

Car models involved in crash test fraud include Toyota Vios, Perodua Axia, Toyota Rush, Perodua Aruz, Toyota Avanza, Toyota Veloz, Perodua Alza, Perodua Ativa, Perodua Myvi, Perodua Bezza, etc.
