Attention! Public Bank will start charging fees from merchants who use PB QR to collect payments!

According to a news release from Public Bank, merchants will be charged a fee of 0.25% to 0.50% for using PB QR codes to collect money from customers. The new measure is effective from October 1, 2023 onwards.

Previously, merchants were not charged any fee when customers used their current/savings accounts to pay PB QR merchants, but from October 1, a 0.25% fee will be levied by the bank.

Customers using e-wallets to make payments to PB QR merchants, which were previously not subject to any processing fees, will be subject to a 0.25% processing fee starting October 1st.

Customers using credit cards to make payments to PB QR merchants were previously charged a 0.25% fee, but as of October 1, a 0.50% fee will be applied.

Attention! The bank will only charge the merchant who receives the payment, while the customer who pays will not be charged. However, this change may also discourage merchants from offering the PB QR code as a payment method, and merchants may prefer to accept cash payments.
