PBA starts replacing water valves, Penang launches 96-hour water supply.

The 96-hour water supply system in Penang has officially started. The Penang Water Supply Corporation started replacing two 1.2-meter-diameter valves at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant at 6 am this morning and started preventive maintenance projects at 22 other locations. The above-mentioned works and projects have been carried out as planned starting from 6 am.

According to a statement issued by Penang Water Supply Corporation, the Sungai Dua water treatment plant has ceased operation as planned, and the above-mentioned related work has been started at other locations.

The agency said that the authorities will update the progress of the valve replacement project at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant from time to time to allow the public to obtain accurate and reliable information. People in Penang who have been affected by water supply disruptions can obtain the latest updates through the agency’s official social media channel information.

The statement said the authorities are making every effort to complete all urgent hydraulic engineering projects to restore water services as planned.

On the other hand, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow also posted on his official Facebook page, stating that the above-mentioned project had officially started at 6 am. He also said Selangor and Malacca had agreed to send nine water tankers to assist Penang.

He pointed out that the Penang state government is deeply grateful for this assistance and hopes that we can tide over this challenging period together.
