In addition, studies have shown that persistent sore throat and cough for more than 3 days, in the absence of fever, is very likely to be infected with Omicron, and it is recommended to get tested for coronavirus.
Symptoms of infection with the Omicron variant virus include sore throat, runny nose, and headache. Omicron primarily infects the respiratory tract, with symptoms similar to the common cold. The Delta variant of the virus infects the lower respiratory tract, so lung infections can occur.
The public is urged to avoid gatherings, wear masks correctly and get booster shots as soon as possible.
