Paris Olympics countdown 500 days Macron says France will be ready

15/03/2023

On Tuesday, France celebrated the 500th day of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. On the same day, President Emmanuel Macron gave a speech assuring the world that France would be ready to host the Olympics.

According to a Chinese news source, Macron spoke to the workforce preparing for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris and met with executives from the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee and sponsors. Macron has stated that the next 500 days are critical for the success of the Paris Olympics.

Macron stated that hosting the Olympics allows France to grow its sports and strengthen its infrastructure. He emphasized the significance of public involvement in the Olympics.

On the same day, he announced via social media that the current issue of Time magazine would have a cover story about the cleanup of the Seine River in preparation for the Olympics.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled for July 26–August 11, 2024; the Paris Organizing Committee has previously announced that the opening ceremony will occur on the Seine and along the river rather than only in the stadium. Tens of competitors will arrive in boats on the Seine at that moment.

In his speech, Macron expressed his desire for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris to showcase France in the best possible light and inspire national pride.

Public transportation system faces huge challenges

The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee is working tirelessly and methodically to prepare for the Games. The 500-day mark has already been reached. While the current Olympic venue development matches expectations, experts warn that the Paris public transportation system could encounter significant difficulties.

The head of the bus system operations for the Paris region expressed concern that the public transportation system in Paris might not be able to handle the influx of people for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. He asked that attendance at the opening ceremony be capped at 500,000 people, saying it would be too challenging to provide adequate public transportation for everyone if that number were exceeded.

The vast majority of French citizens are worried about the Paris Olympics, according to a poll issued on Tuesday by French sports station RMC. According to the survey results, French judoka Rene is regarded as the country’s most inspirational Olympian.
