Over 100K tents valued RM19M are donated by Johor Sultan to each state for disaster assistance.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar today donated 103,000 cubic tents, valued at RM19 million, to support emergency relief activities across the nation.

The Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) will use the donation to build temporary homes for those affected by disasters like the yearly floods. From YSIJ, each state will receive roughly 5,000 cubic tents.

At a handover ceremony held at Istana Polo in Pasir Pelangi, Sultan Ibrahim was represented by Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, State Secretary Tan Sri Azmi Rohani, and YSIJ trustee Datuk Avinderjit Singh were among the other dignitaries in attendance.

Representatives of the state governments of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Melaka, Selangor, and Penang accompanied them. Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus, the deputy director-general for the post-disaster management division of the National Disaster Management Agency, was also there.

According to Avinderjit, Sultan Ibrahim is deeply concerned about the welfare of the populace in times of crisis. Flood victims may temporarily occupy the cubic tents in the relief facilities.
