October Public Holiday Schedule!

24/09/2022

There are 4 public holidays in October, 2 are national holidays and the remaining 2 are state specific holidays only.

October 9 is the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, which is a national public holiday. Since the Prophet’s birthday falls on a Sunday this year, all states in the country will enjoy a compensatory holiday on October 10. Together with Saturday and Sunday, it will form a 3-day long weekend holiday.

However, Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are not entitled to the October 10 holiday, so Sunday is not a weekday in these states.

October 24 is the Tu B’Shevat holiday and the whole country (except Sarawak) will be closed on this day. 2022 Tu B’Shevat falls on a Monday, which, together with the weekly vacations on Saturday and Sunday, will make for a 3-day long weekend holiday.

Sabah will be closed on October 1 for the birth of the Sabah Head of State, and on October 8 for the birth of the Sarawak Head of State, which will also be closed.
