9 areas in Penang are still experiencing water disription.
Following the temporary shutdown of the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on Wednesday as a result of floods and a water surge incident in Baling, Kedah, nine districts in the vicinity of Penang are currently experiencing water supply disruption.
The majority of the state’s territories, according to Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), had had their water supply fully restored, but as of six o’clock in the evening, eight places in the Southwest district and one in Seberang Perai Selatan were still without it.
They are the prison complex at Seberang Perai Selatan, Relau, Persiaran Kelicap, Jalan Kenari, Kampung Matahari Naik, Puspakom, Batu Hitam, Casia Sunway, and Permatang Damar Laut in the Southwest district.
Since Wednesday, PBAPP has been working nonstop to ensure that the impacted areas’ access to water can be restored.
Due to excessive levels of raw water turbidity brought on by the catastrophe that struck Baling, Kedah, on Monday, activities at the Sungai Dua WTP had to be suspended for four hours on Wednesday (July 6).
PBAPP announced that tanker vehicles would be used to transport clean water in order to lessen the inconvenience to the affected consumers.
Water bottles would also be distributed by PBAPP via the state assemblyman’s office to the impacted areas. Hospitals, dialysis centres, and other situations like funeral arrangements, however, are given priority.
