New policies and big events in March, take a look.

 

1. Public Holidays

There are 3 public holidays in March, but they are only for specific states. 1 March is Mohammed’s Migration Day, and Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Terengganu will have holidays on this day.

March 4 is the enthronement day of the Sultan of Terengganu and Terengganu will have a day off, while March 23 is the birth anniversary of the Sultan of Johor and Johor will also have a day off.

 

2. School Opening

The final holidays for primary and secondary schools will end on March 20 and the new school year will start on March 21. The new school year for primary and secondary schools from 2022 will start in March and each school year will have 3 semesters. The 1st semester will be from March 21 to June 11/12, the 2nd semester will be from June 12/13 to September 10/11, and the 3rd semester will be from September 11/12 to March 11/12.

 

3. New measures for isolation

The Ministry of Health has updated the isolation schedule for confirmed patients and close contacts, and the new isolation policy will take effect from March 1.

Those who have received booster shots or have completed two doses of vaccination will only be isolated for 7 days after diagnosis. Those who have not yet completed their vaccination and those who have not been vaccinated will be isolated for 10 days.

For close contacts, those who have received a booster dose and do not have symptoms on the first day do not need to be isolated, but will need to undergo RTK Ag screening on the first and third days. Vaccinated booster patients with symptoms on the first day need to be isolated for 5 days.

Those who have received only two doses of vaccine will be isolated for 7 days. Those who have not been vaccinated or have not completed their vaccination will be quarantined for 10 days. Close contacts do not need to be quarantined if they have been infected within 60 days and have completed their vaccinations.

 

4. Tax Return

Part-time workers and business people can file their tax returns starting March 1! If you are a part-time worker, you will need to report your income for the past year using Borang BE. The deadline is April 30, 2022, and those who use e-Filing will get an additional 15 days to file their taxes, which means the deadline is May 15.

If you are a business person, then you want to report your income for the past year through Borang B. The deadline is June 2022. The deadline is June 30, 2022. You can also get an additional 15 days to file your tax return using e-filing, which is due on July 15.

 

5. CPF Announces Dividend Payout

Every year, the CPF announces its dividend payout in February, but this year is an anomaly, as the CPF Board will only announce the details of the dividend payout in early March.

 

6. BKM Assistance Payout

The results of the BKM grant application will be announced in March and the grant will be distributed in 4 phases, i.e. March, June, September and December. The family category will be paid in March, June, September and December, while the single category will be paid in March and September.

7. First grade and preschool registration

Registration for preschool and first grade will open on March 1! Children born between January 2, 2017 and January 15, 2019 can enroll in preschool classes for the 2023/2024 school year. There are a total of 2 ways parents can enroll their child in the preschool class, which means applying online or going directly to the school to submit an application.

Children born between January 2, 2016 and January 1, 2017 will be enrolled in Primary 1 in 2023, while children born between January 2, 2017 and January 1, 2018 will be enrolled in Primary 1 in 2024. Parents can apply for their child’s first grade through the online system and the application results will be announced in July.

 

8. SPM Examination

The annual SPM exams will be held from March 2 to March 29! The epidemic has disrupted school schedules for classes and exams. According to information released by the Ministry of Education, the SPM exams will be held from March 2nd to March 29th.

 

9. Shutdown of 3G network

Eighty percent of the country’s 3G network base stations have been shut down, and the remaining 20% will be shut down by March 31. There are still 50,486 or 20% of the 3G network base stations still in operation, and MCMC hopes to shut down these base stations by March 31.

 

10. Vaccination booster

Attention those over 60 years of age who have received any brand of vaccine and those over 18 years of age who have received the Coxin vaccine! You must get your booster shot by March 31 or MySejahtera will show an incomplete vaccination status.

 

11. Bank Negara monetary policy meeting

12. National Bank Announces Digital Banking License

13. Johor State Election

Johor will hold a state election on March 12 and choose a new state government.

 

14. College students return to school

Students of tertiary institutions can return to school in phases starting from March 1, 2022. Students must be tested for coronary disease 3 days before entering campus and only those with negative reports will be allowed to return to school.

 

15. Maybank Secure2u

Maybank is progressively making Secure2u the preferred option for verifying banking transactions. Users will only be able to verify transactions through Secure2u when making specific transactions and will no longer receive SMS TAC.

From 8 March 2022, when you use Maybank2u to transfer funds to another Maybank account, you can only use Secure2u to validate the transaction. When you use Maybank2u to make an Interbank GIRO (IBG) interbank transfer, you will also only be able to use Secure2u to validate the transfer.

 

16. The Sting
