New Covid-19 infections have surpassed the 3,000 cutoff point, with cases also increasing in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.

New Covid-19 infections have surpassed the 3,000 cutoff point, with the total of 3,321.

Covid-19 infections in Malaysia have continued to grow, with 3,321 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, after remaining below 3,000 since last week.

The CovidNow statistics from the Ministry of Health also revealed a substantial spike in instances over the past seven days in numerous states, including Labuan (up 600%) and Perlis (up 200%).

Kelantan (133%), Terengganu (58%), and Kedah were among the other states with an increasing seven-day case trend (54 per cent increase).

In comparison, Labuan’s seven-day case trend increased by 150 percent yesterday, while Perlis saw a 100 percent increase.

However, as of today, certain states’ seven-day case trend has decreased, with Sarawak, Pahang, and Johor seeing the highest decreases of 16 percent, 12 percent, and 6 percent, respectively.

Since May 3, the day following Aidilfitri, when the country recorded its lowest number of new infections this year, 922 cases, daily case statistics have been rising.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the director-general of health, has previously stated that a surge in cases would be expected following the festive season.

Meanwhile, 1,416 people have recovered from the sickness, bringing the total number of current cases to 24,850.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,467,061 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country.

Covid-19 claimed the lives of another eight people yesterday, including three persons who were brought to hospitals dead, increasing the total death toll to 35,598.

Covid-19 is being treated in hospitals 14.3% of the time, with 1,373 persons admitted.

There are 59 patients in intensive care units (ICUs), with 34 requiring ventilator assistance, for a total of 0.1 percent of current cases using ventilators.

At the same time, 23,385 people are quarantined at home, with 33 others in quarantine centres.
