New Covid-19 infections have risen to 2,246 cases.
The number of new Covid-19 infections in the country has continued to rise, with 2,246 cases reported in the last 24 hours, continuing a steady rising trend that began with last week’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
Cases increased by 50% in Labuan and 40% in Perlis in the last seven days, according to data from the Ministry of Health’s CovidNow system.
The seven-day trend, on the other hand, has slowed across the country, with cases in Perak, Putrajaya, and Sarawak dropping by more than half.
Since May 3, the day following Aidilfitri, when the country recorded one of its lowest numbers of new infections at 922, the numbers have been steadily rising.

Following Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s warning of a spike in positive cases following the Aidilfitri celebrations, the number of new infections has increased.
Since the start of the pandemic, 4,424,097 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country, with 22,368 cases currently active.
There was only one fatality yesterday, and there were no brought-in deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from Covid-19 to 35,584.
According to CovidNow data as of May 9 midnight, 21,230 active cases are undergoing home quarantine, while only four are in quarantine centres.
There are 1,065 hospitalised patients, 30 of whom are unventilated and 39 of whom require ventilators.
There have been 2,433 recoveries, increasing the total number of recoveries to 4,403,183.
The utilisation of intensive care units (ICUs) for Covid-19 treatment is 9.3% (69), whereas hospital utilisation is 11%.
