Motorcycle prices will increase!

Motorcycle prices will go up!

With the government no longer extending the exemption from domestic tax for motorcycles up to 150cc, motorcycles will start to levy domestic tax. The increase will be between RM100 and RM1,000.

The government announced last year that vehicles, including motorcycles, are exempt from domestic tax until December 31, 2021, but in the 2022 budget the government only announced an extension of the exemption from the sales tax on cars until June this year. This means that motorcycles will no longer be exempted from the domestic tax.

Motorcycles will revert to their pre-April 1, 2021 prices, and all motorcycle brands 150cc and below will be affected, with the exception of domestically produced Modenas.

If you are planning to buy a motorcycle, then you will have to pay more. As for those who want to buy a car, they can continue to enjoy the sales tax exemption until June this year, if you want to buy a new car, this is the best time, otherwise you will need to pay more after June.
