More scientific briefings are needed to address Covid-19 vaccine apprehension among children and their parents, according to Muhyiddin.
More briefing sessions giving scientific knowledge and statistics from the Ministry of Health (MOH) should be organised by the government to address vaccine hesitancy among school students and parents.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, chairman of the National Recovery Council (MPN), said it was required since school administrators and headmasters are still experiencing problems with parents who refuse to allow their children to get vaccinated.
He stated that not only children or students who have not been vaccinated, but also teachers and pupils who have completed their immunisation and received the booster dosage, would be at danger of illness.
As a result, they’ve asked the government to make vaccinations mandatory for schoolchildren in order to alleviate the situation. According to his Facebook post, “as MPN chairman, I take note of all the problems that have been raised.”
He also stated that the government does not require Covid-19 immunisation at this time.
At the MPN Chairman’s Dialogue Session with Educators in Kota Tinggi near here, Muhyiddin said he met with over 300 persons from the education community, including Parents and Teachers Association officials.
During the event, the former prime minister discussed the efforts done by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government during the Covid-19 pandemic, including securing vaccine supply and launching the National Covid-19 Immunization Program (PICK).
He also listened to the educators’ opinions and ideas, which included issues such as difficulties in integrating online teaching and learning in schools, obstacles faced by instructors in the pandemic era, and immunisation among children and parents.
He is certain that the country’s instructors have learned to expect and welcome the unexpected as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
