More flood victims have been reported in Kelantan, but the situation in Terengganu has improved.

As of 8 p.m. today, the number of flood victims in Kelantan has increased, while the situation in Terengganu has improved.

The number of victims in Kelantan has risen to 8,678 persons from 2,895 families, up from 8,151 people from 2,626 families earlier this afternoon.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Disaster Info Application (JKM), a total of 30 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) have been established, including 23 in Pasir Mas, three in Tumpat, and two each in Pasir Puteh and Tanah Merah.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) announced on its official flood data portal, publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, that just one major river in the state was in danger, namely Sungai Golok in Kampung Jenob, Tanah Merah, with a reading of 22.59 metres.

At 2 p.m. today, the number of evacuees in Terengganu has dropped to 16,078 individuals from 4,127 families, down from 17,507 people from 4,477 families earlier today.

The number of PPS has also fallen to 98, with 27 in Kemaman, 25 in Dungun, 19 in Hulu Terengganu, 10 in Setiu, seven in Besut, five in Kuala Terengganu, and Kuala Nerus (five).

The lone PPS in Marang, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Berangan, was formally closed at 4 p.m. today, according to the State Disaster Management Committee headquarters.

Kemaman continues to have the largest number of victims (8,408), followed by Hulu Terengganu (3,041), Dungun (2,742), Kuala Nerus (537), Kuala Terengganu (516), Besut (431) and Setiu (403).

The weather remained pleasant throughout the day in most regions, with cloudy sky and light rain in a few spots.

Meanwhile, DID reported on its website https://publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my that most rivers were retreating, with only three rivers in three districts remaining over danger levels: Sungai Kemaman in Kemaman district, Sungai Peneh in Hulu Terengganu, and Sungai Dungun in Hulu Terengganu (Dungun).
