Attention! More and more banks are restricting older cell phones from accessing their banking apps.

Many commercial banks have started to restrict old cell phones from accessing their banking apps, as the national banks are asking all commercial banks to improve their online banking security systems.

Take Maybank’s MAE APP as an example, Maybank now requires users to use a cell phone running Android 9 or above to access the MAE APP. iPhone users must use an iPhone running iOS 13 or above to access the MAE APP.

CIMB OCTO also requires users to use a cell phone running Android 9 or above, or iOS 12.5 or above.

Banco Popular’s PB engage MY APP requires users to use a cell phone running Android 8 or above or an iPhone running iOS 12 or above.

According to AmBank, only Android 10 phones will be able to use the AmOnline APP from January 1, 2023.

If you are still using an old phone, you should consider replacing it in the coming 2023 to ensure that you are more secure when using the banking app for transactions.
