Miri District’s crime index fell 51% last year compared to 2021, according to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.

Last year, the district reported 277 crime cases, a decrease of 292 cases from the 569 cases reported in 2021. Overall, crime and security in Miri district are under control.

Miri police made 849 arrests for drug abuse last year, compared to 563 in 2021. The 50.7 percent increase demonstrates Miri police’s commitment to combating the country’s number one enemy, drugs.

The police are ready to deal with weather changes during the northeast monsoon, when heavy rains may cause flooding in some areas of the district. Monitoring will be carried out to the greatest extent possible for security control between agencies and humanitarian aid.

Residents of Miri who are leaving for Chinese New Year are advised to notify a nearby police station so that patrols and monitoring can be conducted to prevent housebreakings.

During the assembly, 55 police officers of various ranks received certificates of appreciation for their contributions to the resolution of crimes.
