According to Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shen Gui Xian, the Ministry of Health plans to vaccinate children aged 3 to 11 years old in February to protect children in this age group. Sarawak will also be one of the first states to vaccinate children between the ages of 3 and 11 against the disease.

Pfizer’s vaccine is expected to be administered to children between the ages of 3 and 11, but at a reduced dose. The Malaysian Drug Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has not yet approved any vaccine for children ages 3 to 11.

Neighboring Singapore began vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 years with Pfizer last Dec. 27, while Indonesia began vaccinating children aged 6 to 11 years with Sinovac on Dec. 14 and China is vaccinating children aged 3 years and older too.
