Ministry of Education will not further postpone the opening dates of all schools in the country, but only those affected by floods.

According to a message from Minister of Education, the floods have caused serious damage to schools in many states of the country and the Ministry of Education is exploring the need to postpone the start of classes in these schools. Computer equipment, furniture and textbooks all in these schools have been damaged.

Radzi Md Jidin said that the Ministry of Education will not further postpone the opening dates of all schools in the country, but only those affected by the floods. The confirmation and assessment process is still undergoing.

In addition, Radzi Md Jidin said primary and secondary schools will still be on a rotating back-to-school system in January 2022. The Ministry of Education will announce details in the near future. The Ministry of Education must ensure that classes are held in an orderly and safe manner.

The Ministry of Education had previously issued a notice announcing that schools in Group A states would begin on Jan 9, while schools in Group B states would begin on Jan 10.

Group A: Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu

Group B states: Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya
